Acai Blueberry Nicecream

Acai Nicecream bowls are very popular in Hawaii. They are extremely yummy! We enjoy eating the bowls with mangoes or kiwis and coconut flakes. The taste of the berries is described as greasy, earthy and nutty. They are marketed as a so-called superfood. The level of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals is very high, but not higher than in many other well-known fruits, such as blueberries. Since the delicate berries do not survive the transport to Europe, the acai products sold here are only available as a powder, juice or puree – which is not bad because the acai berries that are not heat-treated are a common cause of infections. In Brazil, 100 to 150 cases of Chagas disease per year are caused by contaminated food.

Freeze peeled ripe bananas and store in an airtight container for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight.
